Mission Statement

The Washington College Center for Career Development, a comprehensive, centralized career development office, strives to assist all students in preparing for their future goals by helping them define their personal and professional objectives as well as explore and gain experience with careers that will help them achieve their goals. Implicit is the development of a career plan and strategies that students can implement before and after graduation in pursuit of their ambitions.

Directions

From Philadelphia and Points Due North and Northeast: Take I-95 South to Exit 1-A (Middletown/Route 896 South). Follow 896 approximately 10-15 miles where it will merge with Route 301 South. Continue straight on Rt. 301 South into Maryland. Take Galena exit (Rt. 290 South) and turn right at bottom of ramp. At stop light, go straight on Rt. 213 South. Follow to Chestertown. In Chestertown, turn right at the Greenwood Avenue traffic signal and enter campus through the College's North Gate.

From Baltimore, BWI Airport, and Points Northwest: From Baltimore beltway 695, take I-97 south toward Annapolis, then Rt. 50/Rt. 301 east toward Annapolis and the Bay Bridge. Follow Rt. 50/Rt. 301 East past Kent Island, then take Rt. 301 North toward Wilmington at Rt. 50/Rt. 301 split. After about 7 miles, take Rt. 213 North exit toward Centreville and Chestertown. In Chestertown, Rt. 213 becomes Washington Avenue. Turn left at the Greenwood Avenue traffic signal and enter campus through College's North Gate.

From Washington DC and Points West: Take the route of your choice to Rts. 50/301 East and follow the signs for Bay Bridge/Annapolis. On the Eastern Shore continue on Rts. 50/301 until they diverge in Queenstown and proceed North on Rt. 301. Exit Rt. 301 at Rt. 213 North. In Chestertown, Rt. 213 becomes Washington Avenue; turn left at the Greenwood Avenue traffic signal and enter campus through the College's North Gate.

From Points South: Take either the Washington Beltway (I-495), I-95, or Rt. 301 to Rts. 50/301 East and follow the directions outlined above.

Career Planning is a lifelong process of defining and working to achieve career goals. The Center for Career Development at Washington College is here to help students, alumni, and parents with all aspects of this process including self-assessment, career exploration, career experience and job search or graduate school planning.

  • Credential Files Management - letters of recommendation and reports for such tests as GRE and PRAXIS can be kept on file in the Career Center for up to three years after graduation.

Career Briefs (workshops)

Career Briefs are held in the Career Center Conference Room/Library in Caroline on a regular weekly basis.

Recruiting Events

The Washington College Center for Career Development sponsors a number of recruiter on-campus visits.

Recruiting events may take the form of large or small informational sessions and/or individual interviews. Employers who visit the Washington College campus may be seeking to fill professional positions or internships.

Past recruiting events have brought employers such as Peace Corps, FBI, Enterprise Rent-A-Car (now Enterprise Holdings), Pfizer, NSA, ONI, NVR Ryan, AmeriCorps, Ameriprise Financial, Legg Mason, various Public School Systems, Southern Teachers Association and more. Career Ambassador Program

Through the Career Ambassadors Program trained Student Career Ambassadors are available to provide information and resources from the Center for Career Development in multiple campus settings. Look for their weekly Career Information Tables in the Student Center where you can meet with an SCA to review your résumé and cover letter, to learn more about online career resources, or to get answers to general questions about internships, summer jobs, networking and job search.
