Developing An Internship/Internship Program
There are two Internship options for students at Washington College - (1) For Academic Credit (2) and Not For Academic Credit. The following text will help to explain the general purpose and process on how to set up each type of Internship.
NOT FOR ACADEMIC CREDIT
- Contact the Center for Career Development to discuss the expectations for this Internship.
- Questions to consider: (1) Determine whether your organization has an employee to orient and supervise an intern; (2) Do you have the necessary space and resources?; and (3) Will the Internship offer a
substantive and challenging work experience?
- Refine the Internship "job" description including compensation (paid or unpaid).
- Send all information on the Internship to the Center for Career Development for vetting, then marketing to students.
- Organize your interview process including communicating, screening, hiring and orienting the intern.
Communication is required with Washington College about efficacy and any concerns (410-778-7890) once the Internship has begun.
