The Apprentice Program is a short-term intensive and exciting program.
Designed to offer a transition between academic and professional life,
this program provides hands-on experience under the guidance of professional
arts administrators and technicians in producing an international arts
festival. Interns work at least a 40-hour week; this may include long

Teaching Intern Program - The Putney School in the last several years has had teaching intern openings in foreign languages, English, mathematics, science, technology, history, music, and the visual arts. Pickering Creek Audubon Center, a nationally recognized facility, seeks

The Carter Center offers unique and diverse opportunities for undergraduate juniors and seniors, recent graduates (within two years of graduation), and graduate/professional students who are interested in contemporary international and domestic issues. The Internship Program is recognized both nationally and internationally, and has special appeal for those who wish to combine academic study with practical application and experience.
Internships are offered throughout the year to undergraduate juniors and seniors, recent graduates, and graduate/professional students who have demonstrated superior academic ability and who have course work, professional or personal experience, and career interests related to Carter Center programs. The Center is associated with Emory University in Atlanta and draws many of its interns from that institution. However, the Center also welcomes students from other colleges and universities throughout the United States and abroad.
Interns are required to commit a minimum of 20 hours per week for at least 15 weeks. We allow for the possibility of shorter assignments due to academic calendar constraints. Many interns are encouraged to extend their internship for an additional semester, which can provide a richer experience for both the intern and the program. Supervisors in each program work with interns to establish weekly projects and long-term assignments. Interns are typically given a broad range of duties focusing on issues addressed by their program, but also including office administration and issues cutting across programs. To augment the intern's experience, a number of other educational and social opportunities are provided.

Kent County Maryland Department of Social Services has been awarded a Victims of Crime Assistance (VOCA) grant for two years to establish a Child Advocacy Center at our office in Chestertown. Our services will be directed at serving victims of child sexual abuse and their non offending caregivers. We would be interested in having a student intern or work study student who would be interested in working on this project. We are starting from ground zero and the student will be able to assist with many aspects of the process. A committment of 4-8 hours a week would be required. The student would have the opportunity to visit other facilities, assist in creating a child friendly environment at our agency, assist with setting up the program, record keeping and other office work that relates to the CAC. The official date of the announcement of the funding awards is Feb. 1 so it will be after that date that we will be getting underway. We are partnering with Queen Anne's DSS and together we are hiring a therapist to work with children and families in both counties.
